To teach and mentor the younger generation academically and morally, research into and advocate those environmental friendly agricultural activities that improve soil health, boost food security, empower economically, foster peace and improve the wellbeing of the resource-poor rural women farmers.

  • Soil acidity amelioration.
  • Organic matter dynamics and fractionalization in the acid soils of the Tropics.
  • Diverse ways of improving the health of the smallholder women farmers’ soils through locally made and environmental friendly soil inputs (biochar, ash, compost and animal manure)

  • Enhancing the efficacy of compost and biochar for the improvement of the soils of the smallholder women farmers in Nigeria
  • Ameliorating effects of biochar on soil properties, yield and crude protein content of Soybean (Glycine Max (L) Merr) in an acidic Ultisol of  Southeast Nigeria   
  • Humic fraction as affected by land use types

 

RESEARCH BREAKTHROUGH

  • Value addition to biochar by fortifying it with organic nitrogen sources.
  • Production and packaging of fortified biochar and compost for the resource poor women famers
  • Determination of the appropriate time of application and rate of application of biochar in an acidic soil of Umudike, Abia State.
