Professor Olayinka Ibiwumi NWACHUKWU obtained B. Agric. (1983) and MSc Soil Science (1988) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. On a full Commonwealth UK Scholarship, she obtained  Ph.D. in Soil Chemistry from University of Glasgow, UK in 2007. A registered Soil Scientist of the Nigeria Institute of Soil Science, Prof Nwachukwu is a member of Soil Science Society of Nigeria, Soil Science Society of America, and the British Society of Soil Science. She has received numerous research and travel grants such as TETFUND Overseas Training Grant and TETFUND Research Grant and Kirkhouse Trust (UK) Travel Grant,.

Prof Olayinka Nwachukwu’s research interests are heavy metals in soil – plant systems and remediation of industrially contaminated soil. She is widely published in reputable local and international journals, has been a Visiting Scientist to Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre, UK, and is a ‘hands on’ researcher with experience in Environmental Impact Assessments. Prof Nwachukwu has supervised numerous undergraduate, M.Sc. and PhD projects. She is currently the Editor-in – Chief of MOUAU Journals, and the National Chairperson, Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) Nigeria Chapter.
