Philosophy and Objectives

Philosophy

The philosophy of the B. Agric. Programme in Soil Science and metereology is to help boost agricultural production by training and equipping soil science and metereology   graduates with good knowledge of the theory and practice of soil science for modern Agriculture.  The objectives are:

  1. To produce graduates who are competent in soil science and other areas of agriculture.
  2. To train agriculturists with broad knowledge of agriculture and bias in soil science who will help to educate peasant farmers on modern practices in soil management.
Objectives

The main objectives are:

  • To instill in students a sound knowledge of Soil Science and   its applications  and to involve the students in an intellectually stimulating and satisfying experience of learning and studying the workings of the soils and the environment.
  • To properly equip the students with sufficient and relevant academic and technical knowledge and skills for tackling problems in the field of Soil Science.
  • To cultivate in students the ability to organize and formulate  principles, in  accordance  to  meteorological concepts which they can apply to observe, analyze and interpret spatial and ecological problems in their immediate and wider environments.
